LHL_2020_004: Black and white photographic depicting the back of Freddie's head, he is looking at the closed and empty play area in Bruntwood Park, Stockport, on 2nd May 2020.

This photograph was sent to us by Esther. It captures the unusual quiet outside many people witnessed in the first lockdown, whether through the window, or during the allotted daily exercise.  The daily exercise became very important for those who were able to take it, as Esther explains:

“This is part of our personal journey. My husband, Freddie’s daddy, passed away on 2nd March 2020, following a sudden stroke on 29th February. We held his funeral on 23rd March… limited numbers, no wake, and went into lockdown that evening. Daily walks were an important part of our routine and still are. This was taken on 2nd May 2020. It is my 9-year-old son, Freddie, looking into the play area at Bruntwood Park, as we passed it during one of our walks. This is our local park, but it was the first time we had walked through it in lockdown. Freddie said  ‘Everything is so still…’.”
